What interior painting usually covers
Most interior projects in Tallahassee homes are some mix of wall repainting, ceilings, trim and doors. A single-room refresh may be a day of work. A full interior repaint before moving in — walls, ceilings, baseboards, casings, closet interiors and doors — is a multi-day project that goes much faster when the house is empty.

Prep is most of the job
Older homes around Midtown, Betton Hills and Los Robles often have layered paint, plaster patches and settled trim gaps. Newer construction toward SouthWood, Buck Lake and Killearn Lakes usually starts with thin builder-grade flat paint that scuffs easily. Either way, the finished result depends on what happens before the color goes on: cleaning, sanding glossy trim, filling and sanding wall damage, caulking gaps, spot-priming stains and masking floors and fixtures.
Humidity matters indoors too. Bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens hold moisture, so scrubbable finishes and proper dry time between coats are worth discussing with the painter who contacts you.
Sheen and color decisions
Flat and matte finishes hide wall imperfections but mark easily. Eggshell and satin are common in living areas and hallways because they clean up better. Semi-gloss is typical for trim, doors and cabinets. If you have kids, pets or a high-traffic hallway, say so in your request — it changes the product recommendation.
Color choice is yours, and many painters will paint sample patches so you can judge them in your own light. North Florida light is bright and warm; a color that looked cool gray in the store can read blue on a wall facing the afternoon sun.
